The crown is the sloped concrete top of a masonry chimney that sheds water away from the brick. When it's cracked through, missing chunks, or has no overhang, sealing won't save it — it needs a full rebuild. We form and pour a new reinforced crown with a proper slope, overhang, and drip edge.

Many older crowns were built as a thin mortar wash with none of that — so they crack, lose pieces, and funnel water straight into the brick and flue below.
When a crown is only lightly cracked we can seal it. But once it's structurally failed — large cracks, missing sections, or no overhang at all — sealing is a short-term patch. A rebuild removes the old crown and pours a new reinforced concrete cap, properly sloped, with an overhang and drip edge that protect the chimney for decades.
